I said this is a website for ex-jws, I didn't say everyone was on here to bash them. Why bring up what Catholics or Protestants believe when most people here have no vested interest in them. We've been affected by jws and their teachings not by them. Why would we be interested in debating you about things that don't affect us?

People on this website aren't really concerned about what Catholics or Protestants or any other religious group believes, or how accurate other translations are. I will concede to you that their are mistakes in other translations, but nobody here cares. This is a website for ex-jws.

It may well be that they were only friends or work colleagues. But I know the elders would have something to say about him being in a pub, and with a worldly woman no less. And where was their chaperone?

Contemplate the talents you could develop in art, architecture, music, or other pursuits for which you can find no time in today's hectic life
I like how they blame "today's hectic life" for people not pursuing these things, as opposed to them being discouraged to do so by the FDS. These people could all end their suffering now by just leaving this f**king cult. -

TF: Yes, it did. I worked and studied five days a week, and on the weekends we partied. I lived in a apartment complex that was all College students, and many times there would be entire apartment complex parties on the weekends ... um, which consisted of lots of alcohol, binge drinking, kegs of beer, music coming from many different places, that would be by the swimming pool which was right below my apartment. And then during the week on campus you'd be invited to different parties, also. So, if there wasn't a party to go to then there was Aggieville, which was the local bar scene, and it was at one of those bars that I met this very handsome football player that everyone knew.
I'm still waiting to hear the bad part.

Would Witnesses Go Out in Ministry if They Didn't Allow Counting Time?
by flipper inhey folks.
mr. flipper here.
when i was a witness , like a lot of you, remember we'd all scramble around at the end of the month asking each other, ( or your book study conductor would remind you) to turn our time in for field ministry ?

Of course they would. They're motivated solely by love for God and their neighbor. Nothing they do is for show. Sorry, I tried to do that with a straight face.

which celebrity death....?
by nowisee injust heard about the death of joel siegel, the entertainment critic for abc, and found myself, surprisingly, in tears.
maybe it was because he had such a young son and made plans to let him know how much he was loved, long before he died.
maybe because i have watched him for so many years.

Vince Lombardi wasn't a celebrity? As a cheesehead I have to take offense. Vince Lombardi was a god!

A few over-zealous brothers came to their own conclusion about 1975. One of them went by the name of Fred Franz.

Education Talk from Follow the Christ DC
by FadingAway injustitia themis had a topic 'disgusting comment re: education from tacoma 2007 district convention' regarding a talk on education that those pursuing degrees would be d.e.a.d.
unfortunately that stupid comment was not made at the dc i attended, but i am providing the audio to let ones know how far the society is going in discouraging ones from pursuing college by using weak and tired arguments.. http://www.box.net/shared/s523re4c7i.

They aren't supposed to go to college because Jesus didn't? That was beyond ridiculous. What would Jesus need to go to college for? Did he have a family to support, a mortgage to pay, a car payment? If I could turn a rock into a loaf of bread,or turn a couple fishes into enough food to feed thousands, I wouldn't need a good job to support myself either. If people could resurrect the dead or heal the sick just by touching them, they wouldn't need to go to medical school. For god's sake!
